FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
COLUMBUS, Ohio (Nov. 18, 2015) – Last week, Egan-Ryan Funeral Service hosted a Veterans Day Food Drive to collect food for veterans, active military members, and families in need of food assistance. Thanks to the Egan-Ryan team’s hard work and a network of Columbus-area churches, businesses, and individuals that contributed, the food drive raised $2,325.00 in donations and over 550 lbs. of food.
On Friday, Nov. 13, Egan-Ryan presented the donations to Military Veterans Resource Center (MVRC), a non-profit organization based in Columbus that provides employment and supportive services, including food assistance, to veterans and families. According to MVRC Executive Director Len Proper, with the donations collected, Military Veterans Resource Center will be able to provide about 9,850 meals to veterans and families.
“Generations of the Ryan family have served in the military, and we wished to provide, at this time of year when many reflect with thanksgiving on their blessings, an opportunity to thank some of those who helped defend our way of life,” said Robert Ryan, co-owner and president of Egan-Ryan Funeral Service.
This is the first year for the food drive, and the Egan-Ryan team agreed they will bring it back again next year to support veterans in the community.
