On any given night, over 1,300 Ohio veterans must sleep out in the cold. Southern Ohio residents are invited to join the 27th annual 5K Walk for Homeless Veterans on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. The walk will take place at the Forrest Everhart Memorial Golf Course, located at 17273 State Route 104 in Chillicothe. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 8, and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.

This event, sponsored by Veterans in Transition, Inc. (VITI) will collect donations and raise awareness for Ohio's homeless veteran population. In place of an entry fee, teams and individual walkers are asked to make a donation or collect donations from community members. Donations of any amount will be accepted during registration. A $100 gift card will be awarded to the individual or relay team who raises the most money, and the top 100 finishers will receive a medal. Following the 5K, lunch will be served to participants.
