Mechanic Operator 1
Wornick Foods

Wornick Foods is a leading supplier of convenience foods and military rations.
The Mechanic Operator 1 is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on equipment. Operation includes, but is not limited to, high speed automation equipment in a production environment. Job location is in Blue Ash.Major duties and responsibilities

  • Setting up, operating and maintaining equipment.
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and detect problems.
  • Inspect or test damaged parts.
  • Lubricate and apply adhesives and other materials to machines.
  • Install, replace or change machine parts.
  • Record production, repair and machine maintenance information.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Collaborate with co-workers to repair equipment.
  • Must be able to work in a cold environment (40F or less). Must be willing to work with frozen products with appropriate protective equipment.

Job requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to lift 60-75 pounds.
  • Minimum one-year of experience as an entry level technician in a manufacturing environment.

Palletizer
Wornick Foods
Full-Time
Wornick Foods is a leading supplier of convenience foods and military rations.
The Palletizer is responsible for completing all duties and tasks assigned by the packaging supervisor before their nornal work shift ends. Job location is in Blue Ash.Major duties and responsibilities

  • Checks production schedule to determine product to be packed, availability of necessary packing materials, correct gauge of shrink wrap, and correct pallets (customer pallets, generic pallets and company pallets).
  • Tries out machine controls for effectiveness, and tests safety stops. Reports malfunctions to maintenance.
  • Checks initial conveying of product for packaging and visual acceptability.
  • Manually operates sweep arm to stack finished product in layers per customer's specifications. Inserts separator sheets between each layer of packed product.
  • Checks layers for full pattern pack, according to customer specifications.
  • Operates controls to lower pallet in hoist well as palletizing progresses.
  • Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
  • Manually places wooden top frame on top of completed pallet load.
  • Conveys completed pallet to shrink wrap machine and activates shrink wrap controls to encircle load.
  • Activates conveyor controls to send wrapped pallet to warehouse area.
  • Pulls any defective product from load and sets aside for product repairer.
  • Counts, records and sets spoilage in designated manner. Posts production on PC, and indicates causes of line delays.
  • Coordinate audit locations and quantities of packaging materials between WP locations and staging areas in the Packaging Dept. to ensure smooth workflow and eliminate wait-time for materials on product lines.
  • Print process routers for first and second shift packaging for the next day of production.
  • Monitor packaged quantities and reconcile against retorted amounts across Traffic and Flex for all product lines as needed.
  • Break out and fill-in for other Palletizers in the area.
  • Verify and maintain accuracy of USDA, QA and Production pallets for all product lines.
